Explore answers to common questions about the Tales from the Omni Vault universe and our offerings. We aim to clarify any uncertainties as you delve deeper into our captivating literary world.
What is Tales from the Omni Vault?
Tales from the Omni Vault is the collective name for an interconnected literary universe written
by me, Ryan George Collins. This universe combines pretty much all of my lifelong interests as
interpreted through my own strange mind, leading to results that, hopefully, you have as much
fun reading as I had writing.
It is currently comprised of four (4) ongoing book series: Daikaiju Wars, Occult Mafia Files,
Madoc City Cases, and Kynoran Patrol Datafiles. Other series are in the works that will expand
the universe in new and unusual ways.
What genres are these stories?
The Omni Vault is filled with multiple genres, oftentimes combining them in unusual ways.
Broadly speaking, the books stick to the three fantastical genres: Science Fiction, Fantasy, and
Horror. Or, if you want to really boil it down to basics, just think of me as a modern-day Pulp
writer. That’s what I do.
Can my kids read these?
I have made it a point to not include extreme/explicit content in my stories, although sometimes
it is unavoidable. My books are definitely not for children under the age of ten, and some series
are slightly more mature than others. That said, if you are a parent, you know what your children
can handle, and what you want them to be reading, better than I do. Use your own discretion.
In what order should I read these books?
At present, each book series is written to be self-contained. Astute readers will no doubt notice
the breadcrumbs that hint at other tales, but they do not require knowledge of the other books to
be understood. As such, you can start anywhere. If you want to read the books in the order they
were published, you can do that. If you want to start with one particular series, you can do that as
well. Of course, you should probably read the books of each series in order.
Will there be crossovers?
Part of my long-term plan is for everything to converge for a grand finale. However, I intend to
finish each individual series before the crossovers happen. I would hate for someone to be
confused because they are only reading through one series and wound up missing something.
Of course, the crossovers themselves will be written with the assumption that you have been
following along with everything up to that point, so keep that in mind.
Why “Omni”?
Two reasons. First, “omni” means “all”, and thus refers to the wide variety of material that exists
within this literary universe. Second, it refers to my YouTube channel, Omni Viewer, which I had
operating before I was published. I figured it would maintain a sense of continuity for my built-
in audience.
Why, Omni?
Why not?
Who, or what, inspired your writing?
In terms of literature, I was greatly inspired by authors such as Edgar Rice Burroughs, Robert E.
Howard, H.G. Wells, H.P. Lovecraft, John A. Keele, Maxwell Grant, and Sir Arhtur Conan
Doyle.
In terms of movies, I was inspired by film series and directors such as Godzilla, Gamera, King
Kong, Mel Brooks, Abbott and Costello, the Marx Brothers, and Ray Harryhausen.
In terms of Series, I was inspired by Looney Tunes, the Three Stooges, The Adventures of Rocky
& Bullwinkle, The Twilight Zone, Animaniacs, Ultraman, Star Trek, Farscape, The Addams
Family, FLCL, and Outlaw Star.
Quite a combination, I know.
I notice that you have a Patreon. What reason do I have to join?
Truth be told, supporting me on Patreon is entirely your choice. It primarily exists
because book writing and video making take a long time, and making a small monthly donation
helps to keep the lights on.
If you choose to donate, there are three (3) tiers to choose from. $1/month is the lowest tier,
which gets you a credit on the YouTube channel. $5/month is the middle tier that gets you a
credit in a future book. $20/month is the top tier that gets you a book credit and allows you to
make a review request for the channel.
And, of course, any support you provide, either through donations or through book purchases,
will help bring my planned animated series closer to reality.
Wait, did you say animated series?
I did. I am a lifelong animation fan who has always wanted to work somehow in that field. As
such, I am currently in the process of developing a show of my own, one that – much like the
books – combines my many interests in new and unusual ways. Stick around, and you just might
see a few of the characters popping up here in the not-too-distant future. One of those characters,
Snazzy Chapeau, already appears regularly on the YouTube channel.
Does your left hand know what your right hand is doing?
No, because that would imply my hands have consciousness and willpower separate from my
own, and that would be weird even for me.
So, what’s next?
Oh, you have no idea. Stay tuned.
